It began with five Bibles

In 2009, after experiencing a miraculous healing, Rev. Dr. Naeem Nasir bought five Urdu Bibles and gave them away. That is the whole of how this ministry started — no organisation, no budget, no staff. Five Bibles, given to five people who could not have bought one.

“I saw what one Bible could do for one person. Now, I dream of what one million Bibles can do for one nation.”

Rev. Dr. Naeem Nasir

By God’s grace, more than 150,000 free Urdu Bibles have been given away since that day, and more than 50,000 of them are illustrated children’s editions placed into Christian schools and Sunday Schools across the country.

What he founded

Rev. Dr. Nasir is Founding President of Good Samaritan Ministries Pakistan. Out of that one work has grown:

Why children came first

The Sunday School ministry was not a later addition. Children who were given a Bible needed somebody to teach them to read it. Churches that were planted needed a class for their children by the second month. Teachers appeared long before any curriculum did.

His conviction is the one that shapes every page of this site: a Sunday School in Pakistan cannot only be a Bible lesson. A child must be taught in spirit, soul and body, in the language they speak at home, whether that child is sitting in a city congregation, at a brick kiln, or in a village with no church building at all.

The songs the children sing

Rev. Dr. Nasir writes and composes the Urdu worship songs used across the ministry, published at Urdu Worship. Among them is Bible Muqaddas, the Sunday School song written for children, which teaches Psalm 119:105 — that God’s Word is a lamp for our feet and a light for our path.

He writes them for a reason. A child forgets most of what they are told and keeps almost everything they sing, and a class with no instruments and no equipment can still sing.

Ministry beyond Pakistan

He has travelled widely within Pakistan and visited many countries to share the Gospel, and he leads the ministry’s work of revival crusades, church planting, care for widows and the rescue of families held in debt slavery at the brick kilns.

The teaching week by week is carried by the team on the ground in Pakistan — the pastors, trained teachers and volunteers who meet the children every Saturday, know their families, and do the work.

Family

Rev. Dr. Nasir is married to Mehwish, and they have two daughters, Caroline and Katriel.

More about his life and ministry is published at naeemnasir.com. Please pray for him, for the team in Pakistan, and for the children this Sunday School ministry exists to serve.
