Daniel kept praying when praying was against the law.

Roman Urdu Mere Khuda ne apna firishta bheja aur sheron ke munh band kar diye.

Teaching the lesson

  1. A good man that people envied

Daniel did his work so well that the other officials could find nothing wrong with him. So they went looking for something in his faith instead. Children understand jealousy; start there.

  2. A law made to trap one man

The new law said nobody could pray to anyone but the king for thirty days. It was written specifically to catch Daniel. Some of our children come from families who know what an unjust law feels like u2014 say it plainly and simply.

  3. He opened his windows anyway

Daniel went home, opened his windows towards Jerusalem, and prayed three times a day as he always had. He did not hide and he did not make a scene. He simply carried on.

  4. God shut the lions' mouths

All night in the den, and in the morning Daniel was unharmed. The king ran to the pit and called out to him. Tell the children that God is able, and that Daniel decided to obey before he knew how it would end.

Activity

Sleeping lions. The children lie still as lions while one child, as Daniel, walks between them. Any lion who moves is out. It gets very quiet, which is exactly the atmosphere you want before you talk about how quiet that night was.

Craft

Paper plate lion with a mane of cut paper strips and a mouth that folds closed. Write on the closed mouth: "My God shut the lions' mouths."

Closing prayer

Dear God, thank You that You looked after Daniel all night. Help me to pray to You every day, even when it is not easy. Thank You that You are strong enough to shut any lion's mouth. In Jesus' name, Amen.
