Ages 9-12 Easter John

The Cross

Jesus died in our place, and He chose to.

Bible passage: Luke 23:33-49; John 19:16-30

Memory verse

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

John 3:16

Roman Urdu Kyunke Khuda ne dunya se aisi muhabbat rakhi ke us ne apna iklauta Beta bakhsh diya, take jo koi us par iman laye halak na ho balke hamesha ki zindagi paye.

Activity

The debt list. Each child writes something they have done wrong on a slip of paper — nobody reads them. The slips are pinned to a wooden or card cross at the front. Then read John 19:30 and remove every slip together. Some teachers burn them safely outside; a bin is enough.

Craft

Two rough sticks tied with string or twine into a small cross the children can keep. Plain is better than decorated here.

Closing prayer

Lord Jesus, You did not have to go to the cross, and You went. Thank You for taking what I deserved. I am sorry for my sin. Thank You that it is finished. Amen.
