Ages 5-8 Easter Matthew

He Is Risen

The tomb was empty, and everything changed.

Bible passage: Matthew 28:1-10; John 20:11-18

Memory verse

“He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.”

Matthew 28:6

Roman Urdu Woh yahan nahin hai, kyunke jaisa us ne kaha tha woh ji utha hai.

Activity

Roll the stone. Make a tomb from a box with a round card stone. Tell the story with the children, and let one child roll the stone away to reveal the empty tomb. Then everyone shouts the response: "He is risen indeed!" Practise the call and response several times.

Craft

Empty tomb picture with a stone that really moves — a card circle fixed with a paper fastener so it swings aside to show the empty tomb and the words "He is risen."

Closing prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You that You did not stay dead. Thank You that You are alive today and that You know my name. Help me to tell somebody the good news this week. Amen.
